Gracie Abrams released "Here You Come, There You Go" on October 29, 2026, as the first preview of "Daughter From Hell (Deluxe)". Co-written with Amy Allen and produced by Jim-E Stack, the track explores a recurring pattern of someone returning just as things start getting better. Abrams also revealed why the writing session reminded her of discovering her favourite band.

A new chapter for "Daughter From Hell"

"Here You Come, There You Go" arrived on October 29, 2026, alongside the announcement of "Daughter From Hell (Deluxe)". The expanded edition of Abrams' third studio album is scheduled for November 20.

Originally released in July 2026, "Daughter From Hell" contained 16 tracks. The deluxe edition adds five more, bringing the total to 21 songs. Its additional material includes "Here You Come, There You Go", "Lost In It", "Crazy Girl", "Love Letter" and "Out of Nowhere". Two of those additions already have a release history.

"Crazy Girl" previously appeared as a vinyl-exclusive track, while "Out of Nowhere" was performed by Abrams at Glastonbury in 2025. The expanded edition will make the former available digitally for the first time.

What happens when someone keeps coming back?

The lyrics of "Here You Come, There You Go" centre on someone who returns just when the other person has started feeling better. Abrams introduces that timing in the chorus with the line

"Now you're wanting back in"

She follows it with

"Funny how it happens when I'm good"

making the recurring situation explicit. The other person's renewed attention arrives precisely when things seem to be settling down. One of the song's more distinctive details comes in the description of attachment:

"I'm a double-knotted rope"

The image appears alongside the admission that becoming attached again happens despite the previous distance. The following reference to being undone like magic completes the thought. The title captures the repeated movement at the centre of the lyrics.

Someone comes back, the connection starts again, and the situation changes once more. Abrams does not identify the person or document a specific real-life relationship behind the song, so a more personal explanation would go beyond the available information.

The collaboration behind the recording

The songwriting credits list Abrams, James Harmon Stack and Amy Allen. Stack, professionally known as Jim-E Stack, also handled production, engineering and drum programming. This marks a different creative partnership from the one behind much of the original album, which involved longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner.

Allen brings an established pop songwriting background to the session. Her previous credits include Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" and "Please Please Please". Working alongside Abrams and Stack, she contributes to a track created outside the singer's familiar Dessner collaboration.

The remaining recording credits include Devin Hoffman on guitar, mandolin and pedal steel guitar. Serban Ghenea handled mixing, while Chris Gehringer was responsible for mastering.

What did Abrams say about making the song?

In her Apple Music interview with Zane Lowe, Abrams shared an interesting detail about the writing experience. She explained that listening to the finished recording reminded her of discovering a band during her school years and immediately feeling connected to its music.

She described the experience as something she continued to feel whenever she listened to the song after writing it. Abrams also emphasised that working with Stack and Allen was new for her, calling the experience electrifying.

There was relatively little distance between the writing session and the release. Abrams told Lowe that the song had been made only a couple of months before it reached listeners. She was particularly excited to share a recording that had given her such a strong impression from the beginning.

Abrams brings the single to "Saturday Night Live"

On October 31, Abrams returned to "Saturday Night Live" as the musical guest, performing "Hit the Wall" and "Here You Come, There You Go". The latter received its live television debut during the Halloween episode.

The performances also featured a visual reference to Baz Luhrmann's 1996 film "Romeo + Juliet". Abrams appeared as Juliet for "Hit the Wall" before returning as Romeo for her new single. It was her second appearance as an SNL musical guest, following her December 2024 debut.

With its new songwriting partnership, detailed production credits and direct lyrical focus, "Here You Come, There You Go" offers a fresh addition to the expanded album. It also gives listeners an early look at the five tracks arriving with "Daughter From Hell (Deluxe)" on November 20.
