Lavish cinematography, commanding performances and a soundtrack that shifts between brooding orchestral writing and forward-thinking pop make "Wuthering Heights" one of the year’s most talked-about adaptations. Here is everything you need to know about the music behind the film, along with the full soundtrack.

"Wuthering Heights" A bold return to a literary classic

Based on the 1847 novel "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontë, the film revisits one of the most intense love stories in English literature. The story follows the turbulent bond between Catherine Earnshaw and the orphan Heathcliff, whose deep connection evolves into obsession, jealousy and emotional destruction.

Set on the isolated Yorkshire moors, the narrative explores class, revenge and the long shadow of unresolved desire across generations. Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi lead the cast, supported by Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes and Ewan Mitchell.

Following Promising Young Woman and Saltburn, director Emerald Fennell once again blends period storytelling with a contemporary edge. "Wuthering Heights" opened in theaters on February 13, 2026.

Anthony Willis crafts a sweeping score

Composer Anthony Willis reunites with Fennell for the film’s original score. Known for balancing elegance with unease, Willis leans into sweeping string passages, restrained piano themes and carefully layered electronic textures.

The music captures both the vastness of the moors and the claustrophobic emotional world of its characters. Rather than overpowering the drama, the score builds tension gradually, allowing key motifs to resurface and evolve alongside the story.

Charli XCX expands the world with a companion album

Beyond the orchestral score, Charli XCX contributes a companion album inspired by the film’s themes. Her approach is bold and modern, channeling obsession, heartbreak and emotional volatility into a sharp, experimental pop sound.

Driving synth lines and stripped-back production create a stark contrast to the classical arrangements, offering an alternative perspective on Catherine and Heathcliff’s turbulent connection.
