Au commencement, Dieu créa le ciel et la terre
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth
Et la terre était informe et vide
And the earth was without form, and void
Et les ténèbres couvraient la surface de l'abîme
And darkness was upon the face of the deep
Et l'Esprit de Dieu planait au-dessus des eaux.
And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters
Et Dieu dit : Que la lumière soit ! Et la lumière fut.
And God said, "Let there be light and there was light"
