O soldado bateu à porta da rainha.
The soldier came knocking upon the queen′s door
Ele disse: "Não vou mais lutar por você".
He said, "I am not fighting for you any more"
A rainha sabia que já tinha visto o rosto dele em algum lugar.
The queen knew she'd seen his face someplace before
E lentamente ela o deixou entrar.
And slowly she let him inside

Ele disse: "Eu observei seu palácio aqui no alto da colina."
He said, "I′ve watched your palace up here on the hill'
"E eu me pergunto quem é a mulher por quem todos nós matamos."
"And I've wondered who′s the woman for whom we all kill"

"But I am leaving tomorrow and you can do what you will

"Only first I am asking you why"

Ele foi conduzido para o longo e estreito corredor.
Down in the long narrow hall he was led

And he took her to the window to see

E o sol era dourado, embora o céu estivesse cinzento.
And the sun, it was gold, though the sky, it was gray
E ela queria mais do que jamais poderia dizer.
And she wanted more than she ever could say
Mas ela sabia o quanto aquilo a assustava, e se afastou.
But she knew how it frightened her, and she turned away

And would not look at his face again

Mas a coroa havia caído, e ela pensou que iria se quebrar.
But the crown, it had fallen, and she thought she would break

And she stood there, ashamed of the way her heart ached

And she took him to the doorstep and she asked him to wait
