À medida que desenvolvo a mente desperta
As I develop the awakening mind
Eu louvo os Budas enquanto eles brilham
I praise the Buddhas as they shine
Eu me curvo diante de você enquanto viajo em meu caminho
I bow before you as I travel my path
Para me juntar a vocês, eu faço minha tarefa de tempo integral
To join your ranks, I make my full-time task

Pelo bem de todos os seres eu procuro
For the sake of all beings I seek
A mente iluminada que eu sei que colherei
The enlightened mind that I know I′ll reap
Respeito a Shantideva e a todos os outros
Respect to Shantideva and all the others
Quem trouxe o Dharma para as irmãs e irmãos
Who brought down the Dharma for the sisters and brothers

Eu agradeço por este mundo ser um lugar para aprender
I give thanks for this world as a place to learn
E por esse corpo humano que eu sei que ganhei
And for this human body that I know I've earned
E meus mais profundos agradecimentos a todos os seres sencientes
And my deepest thanks to all sentient beings
Pois sem eles não haveria lugar para aprender o que estou vendo
For without them, there would be no place to learn what I′m seeing

Não há nada aqui que não tenha sido dito antes
There's nothing here that's not been said before
Mas eu coloquei isso aqui agora para ter certeza
But I put it down now so that I′ll be sure
Para solidificar minhas próprias opiniões
To solidify my own views
E ficarei feliz se isso ajudar alguém também
And I′ll be glad if it helps anyone else out too

Se os outros me desrespeitam ou me criticam
If others disrespect me or give me flak
Vou parar e pensar antes de reagir
I'll stop and think before I react
Sabendo que estão passando por fases inseguras
Knowing that they′re going through insecure stages
Aproveitarei para exercitar a paciência
I'll take the opportunity to exercise patience

Vou ver isso como uma oportunidade de ajudar a outra pessoa
I′ll see it as a chance to help the other person
Corte o mal pela raiz antes que piore
Nip it in the bud before it can worsen
Uma chance para eu ser forte e seguro
A chance for me to be strong and sure
Ao pensar nos Budas que vieram antes
As I think on the Buddhas who have come before

Enquanto eu louvo e respeito o bem que eles fizeram
As I praise and respect the good they've done
Saber que o amor pode vencer o ódio em qualquer situação
Knowing love can conquer hate in every situation
Precisamos de outras pessoas para criar
We need other people in order to create
As circunstâncias para a aprendizagem que estamos aqui para gerar
The circumstances for the learning that we′re here to generate

Situações que trazem à tona nossos medos mais profundos
Situations that bring up our deepest fears
Então podemos trabalhar para liberá-los até que sejam liberados
So we can work to release them until they're cleared
Portanto, só faz sentido
Therefore it only makes sense
Para agradecer aos nossos inimigos apesar de suas intenções
To thank our enemies despite their intent

O caminho do Bodhisattva é de poder e força
The Bodhisattva path is one of power and strength
Uma força interior para ir até o fim
A strength from within to go the length
Ver os outros é tão importante quanto eu
Seeing others are as important as myself
Eu me esforço por uma felicidade de riqueza mental
I strive for a happiness of mental wealth

Com a interconexão que compartilhamos como um
With the interconnectedness that we share as one
Cada ação que tomamos afeta a todos
Every action that we take affects everyone
Então, ao decidir o que uma situação exige
So in deciding for what a situation calls
Existe um caminho para o bem de todos
There is a path for the good for all
Eu tento fazer cada ação minha para o bem maior
I try to make my every action for that highest good

Com o desejo altruísta de alcançar o estado de Buda
With the altruistic wish to achieve Buddhahood
Então eu prometo aqui diante de todos que estão ouvindo
So I pledge here before everyone who's listening
Tentar fazer com que cada ação minha seja para o bem de todos os seres
To try to make my every action for the good of all beings
Pelo resto da minha vida e até mesmo além dela
For the rest of my lifetimes and even beyond
Eu juro fazer o meu melhor, não causar mal algum
I vow to do my best, to do no harm
E em tempos de dúvida, posso pensar no Dharma
And in times of doubt, I can think on the Dharma
E os Iluminados que se formaram no Samsara
And the Enlightened Ones who′ve graduated Samsara
